Hello fellow travelers, I hope you all are exploring! As we get closer to Summer and the possibility of showing our faces in public again, it can be hard to imagine actually putting on makeup, or painting your toes, after no one has seen you out of your pajamas for three months. So, now might be the time to simplify your summer beauty routine and let the sun and breezy warm air bring you back to life.
My skin has always been finicky, but in the summer it becomes even more difficult to manage, because of the immense heat and sun damage that occurs. Sunscreen is always a must, especially on your face, but with sunscreen and foundation my skin becomes an oily, gooey mess. I love using a tinted moisturizer, or a BB or CC cream with added sunscreen. I use Babo Botanicals Daily Sheer Tinted Sunscreen with an SPF of 30, or Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue, that also has an SPF of 30. They are light and provide coverage, but also have a high SPF.
When I need to remove my makeup and I want to go without it, I use a gentle scrub, that doesn’t rip my skin apart, but exfoliates and leaves it smooth. I have tried numerous scrubs and they just don’t give me the results I need. But, I love the Radically Rejuvenating line from Acure. It’s fabulous, their Radically Rejuvenating Facial Scrub, with Moroccan red clay and rose oil is perfect, yes, it is red in color and looks wild, but it works like a charm. I follow it up with the Radically Rejuvenating Rose Argan Oil and my skin is as good as new after a day in the sun. It’s also reasonably priced and all natural.
When I actually need Sunscreen, for the rest of my skin and the kids, I just found a product I love. I have a love hate relationship with Zinc Oxide, yes it’s safe for the planet, but I actually still burn, when I use it. But, this product actually gives my skin the protection it needs. Maybe it’s because it also has Titanium Dioxide in it as well. It’s actually a kids sunscreen, but I use it too. Kiss My Face Organics kids SPF 30 has been a real win, the kids haven’t been burned and they are literally outside in our hot Colorado sun, from morning to night. I will definitely purchase this again.
When We talk about moisturizing skin after a long day in the sun, I have to have a moisturizer that is thick and full of my top faves, Aloe, Shea Butter and Coconut Oil. My skin is so sensitive and because of the dry, arid climate in Colorado, moisture gets sucked out of everything. I recently tried a new product I bought on Amazon, called Total Activation Aloe Butter, it has so many great ingredients in it it, from aloe, to Shea butter, to sunflower oil and so much more. It is thick and it totally hydrates my skin, I even use it on the kids after they have been crisping in the sun. You can buy it on the Total Activation website, or on Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Total+Activation&ref=nb_sb_noss_2. I also love a product that I used while we were vacationing in San Diego, CA, at the Paradise Point Resort and Spa. If you have never been, go there, it’s fantastic. You can find information about this resort, in a previous post on my Facebook page. I loved the toiletries they have in their rooms and asked where I could buy their products. They use products made for bulk, so it was a little difficult to find, but you can find it at the link below. It’s called Infuse Body Lotion White Tea and Coconut, https://diversifiedhospitalitystore.com/collections/infuse it smells heavenly and is pretty thick, I use this lotion if I am going out at night and want to have a summery scent.
Beauty doesn’t have to be complicated, it can be simple, easy and still feel profound. The summer heat can be drying and eroding to our skin, but these products will definitely bring your skin back to life. Try a few and tell me what you think!
