Fall’s Favorites…..

Hi fellow travelers, I hope you all are exploring! Whew! when school starts it’s like my life just turns into a whirlwind! But Fall is my favorite time of year, when the winds turn cooler, the leaves are crimson colors and pumpkins are abound. Plus, I love Halloween! But, Fall is more than ghouls and ghosts, it’s a feeling of change, cozy sweaters and holiday magic. That must be why there are so many fun things to do this time of year. Here are a few of my favorite activities to indulge in the creamy, dreamy pumpkin spice of the season.

Hocus Pocus-

Hocus Pocus

First and Foremost you must watch “Hocus Pocus“, I live for this movie and actually watch it all year round. But, to begin those fall feelings I definitely watch this movie as soon as they will show it on television, (plus I have it recorded). It’s not just the witches, but the beautiful east coast scenery and the whimsy of having a real haunted house in the middle of a small town. If you have never seen it, then you will become instantly addicted for sure.

Fall Foliage-

Of course, the changing of the leaves anywhere you live in the United States is beautiful, so go on a drive and enjoy the colors. My favorite drive is up through Morrison and Evergreen, it’s close to the city, but you drive through so many small towns that you feel a world away. Stop at Lair o’ The Bear Open Space Park to really get out and take in the scenery. Besides, when you are toting two kids, any drive longer than 45 minutes becomes torture.

Pumpkin Festivals

Of course there are so many Fall festivals that you couldn’t possibly imagine them all, but I need a festival that has a pumpkin patch. I love picking pumpkins and my kids do too, but some patches just don’t feel like your one of a kind country patch. One of the patch’s I love to go to in Colorado, is Chatfield Farms, it just feels like an old country farm where farmer Jim grows enormous pumpkins around Halloween. Plus they have a corm maze, food and fun for the kids. Tickets are a little expensive, but worth it if you go early enough in October. Adults are $14 and kids 3-12 are $11, be sure to buy early because this place is popular. https://www.botanicgardens.org/events/special-events/corn-maze

Haunted Houses

If you are looking to get a little fright out of your fall fun, then you must scare yourself silly, with one of Denver’s haunted house attractions. Just leave the kids at home, this is totally not their thing. I have done pretty much all of Denver’s haunted houses and they are pretty scary, however, when you do them so many times, you start to anticipate what may happen. But if you put together a cold, dark night, a corn maze I am sure to never get out of and a chainsaw, then forget it, I’m scared out of my mind. Add a little Children of the Corn to that, and it’s over. Just watch the Haunted Field of Screams trailer and you may not even want to chance it, you will literally be terrified, but if you need more screams, then check out all their attractions and for $44.99/ticket for four attractions, you will be screaming all month long. . https://hauntedfieldofscreams.com/
